Dr. Norharlina Bahar, Psychiatrist
Dr. Norharlina Bahar is a Senior Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience caring for the emotional and mental wellbeing of children and adolescents. She holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Master of Medicine in Psychiatry (M.Med Psych), and has completed subspecialty training and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She also underwent advanced training in Eating Disorders and Infant Mental Health, which supports her gentle, family-centred approach to care.
Previously, Dr. Harlina served as Head of the Psychiatry and Mental Health Department at Hospital Selayang, where she led clinical services, training, and research. Her special interests include infant mental health, digital and behavioural addictions, and internet-related mental health issues in young people.
Dr. Harlina is actively involved in teaching, supervision, and professional development, and regularly speaks at local and international conferences. She has published in medical journals and contributed to national mental health policies and clinical practice guidelines. She currently serves as Vice President of the Malaysian Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist Association and is the Founding President of the Malaysian Society of Internet Addiction Prevention (MySIA). She also collaborates with the World Health Organization on initiatives supporting child mental health and wellbeing.
